Group AColombia - Argentina 47-70Argentina celebrated the third straight win in Group A. They fired past Colombia to stay undefeated. Argentina dominated throughout the bigger part of the game. They accounted for a 36:17 halftime lead. They sank 34 points in the second half to ease to the win. Melisa Gretter (161-PG-93, agency: ProDep Management) and Macarena Rosset (178-G/F-91, agency: Players Group) delivered 16 points each for the hosts. Manuela Rios (165-G-97) replied with 10 points for Colombia. Brazil - U.S. Virgin Islands 60-67 OT Virgin Islands upset Brazil for the second victory in Group A. Natalie Day (182-G/F-90, college: Portland) came up with 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge. Virgin Islands posted a 28:23 halftime lead. Brazil erased the deficit in the second half and forced overtime. But Virgin Islands used a 9:2 run in the extra period to seal the win. Imani Tate (173-G-95, agency: LBM Management) had 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Raphaella Monteiro (181-F-95) answered with 15 points and 9 boards for Brazil. Group BParaguay - Mexico 73-67 OTParaguay held off Mexico in overtime to gain 2-1 record in Group B. Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85, college: Union, TN, agency: ProDep Management) notched 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the victory. Paraguay eked out a 30:28 halftime lead. Mexico managed to deny the deficit in the second half forcing overtime. Paraguay sank 10 points in the extra period and raced to the win. Tamara Insfran (175-G/F-89, college: Cumberland) had 18 points for the winning side. Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-F-93, college: Charleston) produced 25 points and 17 rebounds for Mexico. Cuba - Puerto Rico 67-70 Puerto Rico nipped Cuba for the third win in Group B. Pamela Rosado (165-PG-86) stepped up with 17 points for the winners. Puerto Rico got to a strong start. They piled up a 43:27 halftime lead. Cuba went on a strong second half rally but came up short at the end. Yolanda Jones (184-F-84, college: La-Lafayette) netted 12 points in the win. Anisleidys Galindo (181-SG-89) was responsible for 20 points and 8 boards for Cuba. |
