Argentina stayed in front throughout the first half. The hosts posted a 34:27 halftime lead. Canada however stepped on the gas in the third term. They unleashed 29 points in the period to ensure a 9-point lead. Argentina cut the distance in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the loss. Miranda Ayim (191-F/C-88, college: Pepperdine) and Miah-Marie Langlois (173-PG-91, agency: LBM Management) netted 10 points each for Canada. Melisa Gretter (161-PG-93, agency: ProDep Management) accounted for 23 points for Argentina. 3-4 PlacePuerto Rico - Brazil 75-68Puerto Rico clinched Bronze medals in Buenos Aires. They defeated Brazil in the consolation final. Ali Gibson (180-G/F-93, college: Oregon St.) posted 19 points to lead the winners. Brazil and Puerto Rico were tied at 30 at the interval. Puerto Rico eked out a 2-point lead heading into the fourth frame. They sank 25 points in the final term to ice the win. Michelle Gonzalez (167-PG-89, college: FIU) had 16 points for the winners. Kelly Santos (192-C-79, agency: Interperformances) responded with 20 points and 9 boards for Brazil. |
