Group A
Dominican Republic - Mexico 67-52
Dominican Republic outgunned Mexico to take the first win in San Juan. Dominican Republic eked out a 29:26 halftime lead. They held Mexico to just 26 points in the second half and rallied to the victory. Juladyy Zapata (165-SG-93) produced 20 points, while Genesis Evangelista (170-G-93) added 14 points for Dominican Republic. Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-F-93, college: Charleston) replied with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Mexico.

Canada - Cuba 87-51
Canada recorded the second straight win in Group A. They raced past Cuba to remain perfect. Kayla Alexander (193-C-91, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead the North American side. Canada led by just 8 points at the big break 35:27. But they poured in 52 points in the second half and rallied to the victory. Samantha Hill and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-F/C-91, college: Simon Fraser) provided 12 points each for the winners. Anisleidys Galindo (181-SG-89) answered with 15 points for Cuba.

Group B
Argentina - Brazil 49-76
Brazil improved at 2-0 record in Group B as they cruised past Argentina. Brazil held their opponents to just 12 points in the first half to open a 15-point lead. They added 49 points in the second half to march to the win. Patricia Teixeira (175-G/F-90) netted 15 points, while Clarissa Dos Santos (188-C-88) netted 13 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in the victory. Andrea Boquete (183-SF-90) answered with 10 points for Argentina.

Colombia - Paraguay 74-51
Colombia stormed past Paraguay to gain 1-1 record in Group B. Colombia accumulated a 40:28 halftime lead. They followed with a 23:14 run in the third term to clear off for good. Jenifer Munoz (170-G-91) delivered 16 points, while Maria Palacio (172-G-85) added 14 points in the win. Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85, college: Union, TN) answered with 20 points and 7 rebounds for Paraguay.
