The South American Women's Championship set to be held in Cali, Colombia will no longer be played due to the ongoing pandemic and a surge in COVID cases in South America. Based on that decision Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela qualified for the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2021, as they were the best ranked teams in the sub-zone according to the FIBA Women's World Rankings by NiKE. Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic and El Salvador qualified from the Centrobasket Women's Championship in March. The United States and Canada will also join the competition representing North America. The ten-team field is now confirmed for the June tournament to be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, United States, Venezuela and US Virgin Islands.
The games will take place between 11 to 19 of June under the FIBA Return to Basketball COVID-19 Protocol in order to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
