Brazil - El Salvador 118-43
Brazil smashed El Salvador in the opener. Thayna Silva (180-F-96) scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to pace the winners. Brazil dominated from start to finish. They erupted for 63 points in the second half and eased to the victory. Kamilla Silva (201-C-01) finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Kimberly Villalobos (188-C-00) answered with 11 points for El Salvador.

Dominican Republic - Argentina 46-64
Argentina beat Dominican Republic to celebrate the first win at the championship. Macarena Rosset (178-G/F-91) delivered 14 points, while Camila Suarez (178-SG-00) added 13 points for the winners. Argentina grabbed a 31-21 halftime lead. They followed with a 17-7 run in the fourth period to seal the win. Elemy Colome (173-G-96) paced Dominican Republic with 13 points.

U.S. Virgin Islands - Colombia 60-72
Colombia got to the winning start of their campaign. They outlasted US Virgin Islands in the opener. Yaneth Arias (188-C-82) stepped up with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Colombia. They dominated in the first half. Colombia ensured a 39-28 halftime lead. They extended the margin to as many as 20 points heading into the fourth quarter and never looked back en route to the win. Manuela Rios (165-F-97) accounted for 14 points in the victory. Anisha George (188-C-98, college: N.Texas) answered with 18 points for US Virgin Islands.

Puerto Rico - Venezuela 88-50
Puerto Rico drubbed Venezuela at the start of 2021 FIBA AmeriCup campaign. The hosts left no chance for their opponents in the opening game in San Juan. Jazmon Gwathmey (188-G-93, college: JMU) led well-balanced effort with 14 points. Puerto Rico established a 52-23 halftime advantage and cruised to the victory in the second half. Jennifer O'Neill (165-PG-90, college: Kentucky, agency: LBM Management) had 11 points for the hosts. Siuly Marcano (186-PF-96) answered with 13 points for Venezuela.
