Canada beat Colombia to ensure the fourth straight victory in Group A. Kayla Alexander (193-C-91, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the victory. Canada piled up a 34-21 halftime lead. The North American team held their opponents to just 19 points in the second half and raced to the victory. Shaina Pellington (173-G-99) and Laeticia Amihere (193-F-01) had 10 points apiece for the winning side. Yaneth Arias (188-C-82) answered with 9 points for Colombia.
El Salvador - U.S. Virgin Islands 44-85
US Virgin Islands claimed the first victory in San Juan. They crushed El Salvador to enter the quarterfinal stage. Anisha George (188-C-98, college: N.Texas) scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to pace the winners. US Virgin Islands grabbed a 42-28 halftime lead. They followed with a 43-16 run in the second half to cruise to the victory. Imani Tate (175-G/F-95, college: Albany) had 18 points in the win. Emily Tevez (178-SG-93, college: NDN) answered with 14 points for El Salvador.
Venezuela - Dominican Republic 77-66
Venezuela defeated Dominican Republic to celebrate the opening victory at the tournament. Venezuela jumped off to a 20-11 lead after ten minutes. They followed with a 20-11 run in the third period to secure a 16-point lead and never looked back en route to the victory. Yosimar Corrales (184-PF-90) and Daniela Wallen (180-SF-95, college: Okla City) produced 19 points apiece for Venezuela. Yohanna Morton (172-G-87, college: RMU) answered with 13 points for Dominican Republic.
