2025 FIBA AmeriCup Pre-Qualifiers: Nicaragua and Costa Rica stay perfect

Nicaragua and Costa Rica remained perfect at the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup Pre-Qualifiers. They improved at 3-0 record following respective victories on Saturday.
Costa Rica dropped Guatemala 81-66 to stay undefeated. Carlos Quesada (198-C-1985) posted 15 points to pace the winners. Guatemala led by four points at halftime 33-29. Costa Rica responded with a 30-11 run in the third term to surge ahead for good. Victor Arias (198-F-1995) and Daniel Shedden (193-F-1996, college: MSUB) had 13 points each for the winners. David Monterroso (180-PG-1979) netted 19 points in the loss.
Nicaragua outscored El Salvador 77-49 for the third straight victory. They posted a 40-16 halftime lead. Nicaragua drained 37 points in the second half to race to the win. Jared Ruiz (188-G-1992) netted 27 points in the victory. Ernesto Rodriguez (170-SG-2001) had 14 points in the defeat.
