Brazil nip Argentina to gain the third straight win in Leon

Brazil - Argentina 56-55

Brazil celebrated the third straight win at the FIBA Women's AmeriCup. They narrowly edged Argentina to improve at 3-0 record atop of Group A. Damiris Dantas (191-F-1992) scored 13 points to lead the effort.
Argentina posted a 14-9 lead after ten minutes. But Brazil responded with a 20-12 rally in the second term to take a 3-point halftime advantage. Brazil maintained the lead throughout the third period. They established a 9-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter. However Argentina denied the deficit in the final term as Florencia Chagas (180-PG-2001) gave them a 55-54 lead late in regulation. Emanuely De Oliveira (178-F-1999, college: Florida) responded with two free throws to seal the victory for Brazil. Taina Paixao (175-G-1991) accounted for 11 points for the winners. Andrea Boquete (183-SF-1990) responded with 14 points, while Florencia Chagas had 12 points in the defeat.
