Chile - Colombia 33-59
Colombia dominated Chile 59-33 to secure a 2-2 record and a ticket to the quarterfinals. Jenifer Munoz (170-F-1991) led the Colombians with 12 points, while Yuliany Paz (195-C-2000) added 8 points and 10 rebounds. Marlyn Vente (185-C-1995) was also impactful with 8 points and 6 rebounds. For Chile, which ended group play winless at 0-4, Catalina Perez (195-F-1997) scored 9 points and Constanza Cardenas (185-F-1998) had 7 rebounds. Colombia finishes third in Group B and will now face Canada in the quarterfinals. Brazil - El Salvador 106-49 Brazil completed group play in dominant fashion, defeating El Salvador 106-49. Damiris Dantas (191-F-1992) scored 21 points, Kamilla Cardoso (201-C-2001, college: S.Carolina) had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Thayna Silva (180-F-1996) contributed 11 rebounds off the bench. El Salvador's Brandi Harvey-Carr (193-C-1994, college: Pittsburgh) had 15 points and Hillary Martinez (172-SF-1997) added 12, but their team ends the tournament at 0-4. Brazil will now face Mexico in the quarterfinals. USA - Mexico 104-48 USA rolled to another big win, defeating Mexico 104-48. Gianna Kneepkens (183-G-2003) led the charge with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Mikayla Blakes (173-G-2005) added 15 points, and Olivia Miles (178-G-2003) dished out 10 assists to go with 6 rebounds. Anisa Jeffreis (175-F-2004) scored 14 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for Mexico, which finishes 1-3 but still advances to face Brazil in the quarterfinals. USA's 4-0 record earns them the top seed in Group B and a matchup against the Dominican Republic. Canada - Dominican Republic 82-46 Canada bounced back strong with an 82-46 win over the Dominican Republic. Delaney Gibb (178-G-2005) led all scorers with 21 points and 6 rebounds, while Kayla Alexander (193-C-1991, college: Syracuse) flirted with a triple-double with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 11 assists. Shayeann Day-Wilson (168-G-2003, agency: GSE Worldwide) also tallied 8 assists. Cesarina Capellan (178-SF-2003) led the Dominican side with 17 points, but her team drops to 1-3 and finishes fourth in Group A. Canada ends the group phase at 3-1 and moves on to face Colombia in the quarterfinals. Puerto Rico - Chile 75-38 Puerto Rico wrapped up group action with a 75-38 victory against Chile, finishing second in Group B. India Pagan (185-F-1999, college: Stony Brook) scored 18 points and Guirantes Arella (181-SG-1997, college: Rutgers) added 12. Jacqueline Benitez (178-G-1997, college: JMU) had a solid all-around game with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Chile saw another strong rebounding effort from Constanza Cardenas, who had 13 boards, while Barbara Cousino (178-F-1996) contributed 14 points and 6 rebounds. Puerto Rico's 3-1 record sets up a quarterfinal matchup against Argentina. |
