Puerto Rico - Panama 93-59

Puerto Rico beat Panama in the opener of the AmeriCup 2025 on Friday at the Alexis Arguello Sports Complex in Managua, Nicaragua. They posted a 93-59 win in Group B.
The Puerto Ricans set the tone early with a 24-17 first quarter and maintained control throughout, but it was a decisive 25-12 third quarter that broke the game wide open. Puerto Rico’s balanced offense and stifling defense proved too much for Panama, who struggled to find rhythm on both ends of the floor. With the win, Puerto Rico made a strong statement to begin their tournament run, while Panama will look to regroup in their upcoming matches.
Ismael Romero (205-C-1991) stepped up with 15 points and Gian Clavell (193-PG-1993, college: Colorado St., agency: Octagon Europe) added 14. Luis Rodriguez (198-G-1999, college: UNLV) answered with 15 points in the losing effort.
