Second defeat of league's leader Club Force (3-2) against second ranked ELOHIM (4-1) 82-62 was the most important game of the last round. It was a key game for the top position in the league. ELOHIM forced 19 Club Force turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international swingman Miguel Gonzalez (187-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Pablo Gonzalez (194-89) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. ELOHIM's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Hector Chur (179) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds for Club Force. ELOHIM have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Club Force at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by ELOHIM. Club Force will play next round against USAC trying to make it back to the top of the standings. ELOHIM will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Olmeca at home.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Pampichi (2-2) against fourth ranked Coloso (2-2) on Tuesday night. Host Pampichi was defeated by Coloso in a tough game in Amatitlan 61-69. Guard Mynor Aquino (175-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals for the winners and Juan Ventura chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized American guard David Goddard (185-89) responded with 18 points and 4 assists. Coloso moved-up to third place, which they share with GMS and Pampichi. Coloso will play against GMS (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pampichi will play against Villa Nueva and hopes to get back on the winning track.

In the last game of round 5 Olmeca was beaten by GMS on the road 66-56.

GMS - Olmeca 66-56

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked GMS and 6th ranked Olmeca had identical 1-2 record. This time GMS used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 66-56. GMS dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Olmeca's 24. Point guard Anthony Guerra (178-97) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and forward Victor Sosa (190-88) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. GMS's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Kevin Alvarez (185-95, college: Coast Guard) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Luis Arias (-98) scored 8 points and 21 rebounds. GMS (2-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with Coloso and Pampichi. Olmeca at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Villa Nueva. GMS will play against Coloso (#4) in the next round. Olmeca will play against the league's leader ELOHIM in Chimaltenango to get more than just one victory in their record.
