Gonzalez's double-double lands him (Second Stage) Player of the Week award- December 8, 2019
He had a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Pampichi (#2, 2-1) 81-68. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed ELOHIM to consolidate first place in the Guatemalan league. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but ELOHIM already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Gonzalez had a remarkable 81.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be ELOHIM's top player in his first season with the team. Gonzalez has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 18.7ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 10.8rpg), assists (6th best: 4.0apg) and averages solid 2.3spg and 59.2% FGP. Second best performed player last round was Ruben Rodriguez of Coloso. He is a in his 2nd season at Coloso. In the last game Rodriguez recorded impressive 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Coloso lost that game 62-76 to GMS (1-2). The Second Stage is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Rodriguez is well-known at Coloso and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders. Third place about best performers goes to Erick Plama of GMS (#3). Plama showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of GMS, leading his team to a 76-62 easy win against #4 ranked Coloso in a game of the week. The chances of GMS not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 2 games, recording just one victory. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Plama could try to bring GMS's a little bit higher in the standings. Plama has individually a great season in Guatemala. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.3ppg (8th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Anthony Guerra (178-PG-97) of GMS - 17 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists 5. David Goddard (185-G-89) of Pampichi - 28 points and 6 rebounds 6. Ottoniel Roriguez) of Coloso - 18 points and 6 rebounds 7. Alejandro Carrillo (192-F-88) of GMS - 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 8. David Monterroso (180-PG-79) of Pampichi - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Pablo Cano (178-PG-88) of ELOHIM - 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists 10. Ricardo Amaya (191-G-84) of ELOHIM - 16 points and 9 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
