Liga Metropolitana Round 2: Club Force rally past Coeindeguasa

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Liga Metropolitana. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Club Force smashed Coeindeguasa in Guatemala City 68-31. Club Force held Coeindeguasa to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Club Force forced 22 Coeindeguasa turnovers. Center Helmut Esquivel (196-0) scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward David Sequeira (183-98) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Club Force's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alfonso Alvarado responded with 15 points. Coeindeguasa will play next round against Monjitas trying to get back on the winning streak. Club Force will try to continue on its current victory against Olmeca on the road.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Forza at the home court. Hosts were edged by Olmeca 98-96. Dylan Castillo notched 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Diego Villagran supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Even 41 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds by naturalized American guard David Goddard (185-89) did not help to save the game for Forza. Olmeca will play against Club Force in Guatemala City in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Forza will have a break next round.
The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Halcones played at the court of Monjitas. Halcones smashed Monjitas 109-31 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Mario Reyes who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Carlos Gonzalez produced 4 points and 15 rebounds for the hosts. Halcones will meet at home Villa Nueva in the next round. Monjitas will play against Coeindeguasa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 12 points and 15 rebounds by Walter Gasparico of Forza.

Monjitas - Halcones 31-109

The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Halcones played at the court of Monjitas. Halcones smashed Monjitas 109-31 on Friday. Halcones held Monjitas to an opponent 24.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Monjitas 53-27 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Halcones looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Monjitas' players. The best player for the winners was Mario Reyes (-1) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Hector Chur (-99) chipped in 35 points (!!!). Carlos Gonzalez produced 4 points and 15 rebounds and Enzo Castro added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Halcones will meet at home Villa Nueva in the next round. Monjitas will play against Coeindeguasa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Strangely Forza outrebounded Olmeca 50-27 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forza was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Dylan Castillo notched 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Diego Villagran (-93) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Even 41 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds by naturalized American guard David Goddard (185-89) did not help to save the game for Forza. Walter Gasparico (-89) added 12 points and 15 rebounds for the hosts. Four Forza players scored in double figures. Olmeca will play against Club Force in Guatemala City in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Forza will have a break next round.
