Liga Metropolitana Round 11: Halcones keep a leadership position

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Halcones as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Halcones defeated 6th ranked Coeindeguasa at home 66-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Coeindeguasa. The best player for the winners was point guard Anthony Guerra (178-97) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Hector Chur (-99) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Selvin Hidalgo (-3) produced 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the guests. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Coeindeguasa at the other side keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Coeindeguasa will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Halcones will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Olmeca on the road.
Bottom-ranked Monjitas (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 105-52 loss to fifth ranked Forza (5-4) in . Naturalized American guard David Goddard (185-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Walter Gasparico contributed with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Enzo Castro answered with 25 points for Monjitas. Forza maintains fifth place with 5-4 record. Monjitas at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Forza will play against league's second-placed Villa Nueva at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Monjitas will play against Club Force (#3) in Guatemala City and hope to get finally their first victory.



Monjitas - Forza 52-105

Bottom-ranked Monjitas (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 105-52 loss to fifth ranked Forza (5-4) in . They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Monjitas' 36. They outrebounded Monjitas 50-19 including a 20-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Naturalized American guard David Goddard (185-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Walter Gasparico (-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Forza players scored in double figures. Enzo Castro answered with 25 points and Carlos Gonzalez added 2 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Monjitas. Forza maintains fifth place with 5-4 record. Monjitas at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Forza will play against league's second-placed Villa Nueva at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
