Liga Metropolitana Round 7: Halcones keep a leadership position

Liga Metropolitana is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 7 rounds left. Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Halcones as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Halcones smashed bottom-ranked Centenarios at home 79-41. Halcones dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Centenarios' 24. They outrebounded Centenarios 50-23 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard David Monterroso (180-79) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 7 rebounds. The former international swingman Miguel Gonzalez (187-90) contributed with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Guard Mynor Aquino (175-89) answered with 3 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Centenarios. Centenarios' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Halcones have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Centenarios at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. Centenarios will play next round against strong Amatitlan trying to get back on the winning streak. Halcones will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Forza at home.
Forza's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Coeindeguasa (0-3) 82-53. It was a great evening for Walter Gasparico (-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Gary Alvarez helped adding 12 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side Juan Jose Ceren (-86) responded with 19 points and 5 assists. Forza (1-3) left bottom position moving up to fourth place. It was Coeindeguasa's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. Forza will play against league's leader Halcones in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Coeindeguasa will have a break next round.
