Diego Villagran (SG-93) had a very impressive game in the last round for Centenarios and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10.
The 28-year old shooting guard had the game-high 54 points adding eight rebounds and four assists for Centenarios as his team lost the game against the league's best team Halcones (#1, 6-0) 95-107. Centenarios maintains the 5th position in Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 4 games and had just one victory. In the team's last game Villagran had a remarkable 82.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Centenarios' top player in his first season with the team. Villagran has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 18.8ppg) and averages solid 66.7% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old Kevin Garcia (96) of second-ranked Villa Nueva. Garcia impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 34 points and 20 rebounds. Of course he led Villa Nueva to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Amatitlan (#3, 4-3) 79-49. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Villa Nueva consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team's 5-2 record is not bad at all. Garcia is a newcomer at Villa Nueva and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.7ppg (#7). He also registered 12.0 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Walter Gasparico (89) of Forza (#4). Gasparico scored 17 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Forza, leading his team to a 68-48 easy win against Coeindeguasa (#6, 0-5). The chances of Forza not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 4 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Gasparico could try to bring Forza's a little bit higher in the standings. Gasparico has individually a great season in Guatemala. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.0rpg (2nd best).
