Liga Metropolitana Round 5: Villa Nueva Jrs are defeated by Villa Nueva in a derby game

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Liga Metropolitan. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Villa Nueva: Villa Nueva (#6) and Villa Nueva Jrs (#4). Villa Nueva (2-1) won against visiting Villa Nueva Jrs (2-2) 70-66. Strangely Villa Nueva Jrs outrebounded Villa Nueva 53-39 including a 19-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kevin Garcia (-1996) stepped up and scored 9 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international guard Walter Morales (180-1983) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Carlos Cruz responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Villa Nueva moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Villa Nueva Jrs keep the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Amatitlan and Coeindeguasa. Villa Nueva are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Monjitas BTC (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Villa Nueva Jrs will play against the league's leader Halcones (#1) and are hoping to win this game.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Amatitlan (2-2) against seventh ranked Circulo (2-3) on Friday night. Visiting Amatitlan was defeated by Circulo in a tough game on the road 54-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Amatitlan. Cristian Diaz (-2000) nailed 16 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and Henry Cisneros accounted for 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Luis Arias (-1998) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for Amatitlan in the defeat. Amatitlan's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Circulo maintains seventh place with 2-3 record. Amatitlan at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Coeindeguasa and Villa Nueva Jrs. Circulo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Amatitlan will play against Villa Nueva (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Forza's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rodrigo Fernandez produced 2 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Forza moved-up to second place. Loser Monjitas BTC still closes the standings with four games lost. Forza will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Monjitas BTC will play against Villa Nueva (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Monjitas BTC - Forza 38-57
