Kevin Garcia
Kevin Garcia (1996) had a very impressive game in the last round for Villa Nueva, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (9 points, seventeen rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Villa Nueva Jrs (#5, 2-2) 70-66. Villa Nueva is placed at 3rd position in Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Villa Nueva will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. Garcia has many years of experience at Villa Nueva, through which he has constantly improved. Kevin Garcia has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (4th best: 9.0rpg), assists (4th best: 3.0apg) and averages impressive 55.6% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was young Cristian Diaz (2000) of CIRCULOCRL. Diaz had a very good evening with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. It was enough for Circulo to edge the higher-ranked Amatitlan (#4, 2-2) 59-54. Circulo's 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Diaz is one of the most experienced players at Circulo and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.0ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 6.8rpg and 3.6apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was Martin Salazar (2004) of Coeindeguasa (#6). Salazar scored 29 points. Despite Salazar's great performance Coeindeguasa lost 65-98 to the league's current leader Halcones (#1, 4-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Coeindeguasa ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Salazar could help Coeindeguasa to bring them higher in the standings. Salazar has a great season in Guatemala. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.0ppg (8th best).
Other top performing players last week:
4. Luis Perez (191-F-1997) of Forza - 14 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
