Liga Metropolitana Round 9: Monjitas BTC still unable to win any game

Bottom-ranked Monjitas BTC (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-57 loss to fifth ranked Villa Nueva Jrs (4-4) in on Tuesday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Monjitas BTC's 40. Villa Nueva Jrs forced 22 Monjitas BTC turnovers and outrebounded them 70-40 including a 33-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Miguel Giron (-1995) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Henry Alay chipped in 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Villa Nueva Jrs' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Carlos Gonzalez who recorded 7 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Villa Nueva Jrs moved-up to fourth place. The game in Amatitlan supposed to be also quite interesting. Leader Halcones (7-0) played at the court of 5th ranked Amatitlan (3-5). Halcones smashed Amatitlan 104-61 on Friday. Miguel Gonzalez stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The best for the losing side was Dilan Castillo with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Amatitlan's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Halcones. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Amatitlan keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Coeindeguasa. Halcones will meet at home Forza (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Amatitlan will play against Villa Nueva Jrs and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
