David Monterroso
Point guard David Monterroso (180-PG-1979) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Halcones, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 11.
The 42-year old player was the main contributor (39 points, four rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Villa Nueva Jrs (#4, 4-5) with 21-point margin 100-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Halcones to consolidate first place in the Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and Halcones keeps a perfect 9-0 record. In the team's last game Monterroso had a remarkable 70.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Halcones' top player in his first season with the team. David Monterroso has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.8ppg. Monterroso is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 8.6rpg) and averages impressive 2.0bpg and 54.7% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was young Miguel Giron (1995) of Villa Nueva Jrs. Giron had a very good evening with a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Villa Nueva Jrs lost that game 79-100 to league's leader Halcones (#1, 9-0). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Villa Nueva Jrs still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-5 record. Giron is one of the most experienced players at Villa Nueva Jrs and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third on the list of top players last round was former international Ronal Campos (1987) of league's second-best Villa Nueva. Campos showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Villa Nueva, leading his team to a 80-58 easy win against the lower-ranked Amatitlan (#5, 3-6). Villa Nueva is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 7-1 record is not that bad... Campos has a very solid season. In 4 games in Guatemala he scored 15.5ppg.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
