David Monterroso
42-year old point guard David Monterroso (180-PG-1979) had a great game in the last round for league's best team Halcones and receives a Hoops Agents Liga Metropolitana Player of the Week award for round 14.
He had the game-high 32 points adding eight rebounds for Halcones in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Circulo (#7, 3-10) with 54-point margin 107-53. It allowed Halcones to consolidate first place in the Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. It's already very far into the season and Halcones keeps a perfect 12-0 record. In the team's last game Monterroso had a remarkable 53.8% from 2-point range. He turned to be Halcones' top player in his first season with the team. Monterroso has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 26.6ppg. Monterroso is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 8.3rpg) and averages solid 1.3bpg,54.3% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.
Second best performed player last round was Ronal Campos (1987) of league's second-best Villa Nueva. He is former international in his first season at Villa Nueva. In the last game Campos recorded impressive 25 points and 9 rebounds. It was enough for Villa Nueva to edge slightly lower-ranked Forza (#3, 9-5) by 6 points 65-59. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Villa Nueva consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 9 matches. Campos is one of the most experienced players at Villa Nueva and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.5ppg (#7). He also registered 7.5 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to another Halcones' star - forward Juan Rosales (195-F-1996). Rosales scored 22 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was another key player of Halcones, helping his team with a 107-53 easy win against the lower-ranked Circulo (#7, 3-10). Halcones have amazing season winning all 12 games without a single defeat. Rosales turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Rosales has a very solid season. In 2 games in Guatemala he scored 19.0ppg.
