43-year old point guard David Monterroso (180-PG-1979) had a great game in the last round for Halcones and receives a Hoops Agents Liga Metropolitana Player of the Week award for round 4.
He had a double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Villa Nueva (#7, 1-3) with 20-point margin 79-59. Halcones maintains the 3rd position in Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Halcones won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Monterroso had a remarkable 78.9% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Halcones and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Monterroso has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 34.5ppg. Monterroso is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 9.0rpg), assists (7th best: 1.5apg) and averages solid 2.5bpg and 71.4% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Enrique Samayoa (193-PF-1982) of Villa Nueva. He is a forward in his 2nd season at Villa Nueva. In the last game Samayoa recorded impressive double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Villa Nueva lost that game 59-79 to league's leader Halcones (#3, 2-0). This loss caused Villa Nueva to slide to the very bottom (7) position in the standings. 3 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Villa Nueva managed to get this year. Samayoa is well-known at Villa Nueva and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.3ppg (#2). He also registered 8.8 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Diego Lopez (198-F-1980) of league's leader Azucareros. Lopez scored 15 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Azucareros, leading his team to a 68-38 easy win against the lower-ranked Dark Knights (#6, 1-3). Azucareros started extremely well this year. They recorded 3 victories without losing a single game. Lopez turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Lopez has a great season in Guatemala. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 12.3ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 7.0rpg (8th best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
