Sosa's double-double lands him Liga Metropolitana Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

Victor Sosa

35-year old forward Victor Sosa (190-F-1988) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala and receives a Hoops Agents Liga Metropolitana Player of the Week award for round 3.
He had a double-double of 33 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat PSN (2-1) 70-65. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. USAC is placed at 2nd position in Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. USAC will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Sosa had a remarkable 68.4% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at USAC, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Sosa has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 18.3ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 10.0rpg) and averages solid 60.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Mario Godoy of Litegua. He is a in his first season at Litegua. In the last game Godoy recorded an impressive double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds. It was enough for Litegua to edge Leones (1-2) by 2 points 66-64. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Godoy is one of the most experienced players at Litegua and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.3ppg (#9). He also registered 5.3 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Enrique Samayoa (196-PF-1982) of Forza (#6). Samayoa got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for eleven rebounds and five assists. Despite Samayoa's great performance the Forza lost 76-87 to Halcones (#1, 3-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Forza can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 3 games. Too bad for Samayoa he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. The season just started for Samayoa as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
