David Monterroso claims Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana weekly honour

Experienced David Monterroso (180-PG-1979) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Halcones and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Liga Metropolitana Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 44-year old playmaker had a double-double of 40 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Litegua (#6, 2-6) with 25-point margin 95-70. It allowed Halcones to consolidate first place in the Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is already in a full swing and Halcones still have not lost a single game, getting all 8 victories. In the team's last game Monterroso had a remarkable 73.1% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Halcones, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Monterroso has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 29.6ppg. Monterroso is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 6.6rpg) and averages solid 68.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Halcones' star - young former international swingman Miguel Gonzalez (187-G/F-1990). Gonzalez impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Of course together with Monterroso he helped Halcones with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Litegua (#6, 2-6) 95-70. Of course Halcones still keep the league's top spot. He plays for the best team in the league and Halcones managed to win all 8 games keeping a perfect record. Gonzalez is one of the most experienced players at Halcones and similarly like David Monterroso has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.7ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 8.1rpg and 3.9apg.

The third best performed player last round was American David Goddard (185-G-1989) of Litegua (#6). Goddard scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). Despite Goddard's great performance the Litegua lost 70-95 to the league's current leader Halcones (#1, 8-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Litegua can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-6 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Goddard has individually a great season in Guatemala. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.8ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 6.9rpg (7th best). David Goddard has also Guatemalan passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
