Mario Martinez claims Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana Hoops Agents weekly honour

Mario Martinez put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Leones and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Liga Metropolitana Player of the Week award for round 3.
The had the game-high 17 points adding nine rebounds for Leones in his team's victory, helping them to crush, the league's bottom-ranked team Pat City (#6, 0-2) with 18-point margin 87-69. Leones is placed at 2nd position in Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Leones will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Martinez had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Leones' top player in his first season with the team. Mario Martinez averages just after two games 15.0ppg and 6.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young shooting guard Cesar Catalan (190-SG-2007) of PSN. Catalan impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds. Bad luck as PSN was edged by USAC (3-0) 66-64. The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Catalan is a newcomer at PSN and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#4). He also registered 15.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Marcos Cambino of Solola AsoBasket (#4). Cambino scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). Despite Cambino's great performance the Solola lost 76-86 to #3 ranked Forza. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Cambino has individually a great season in Guatemala. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.5ppg (2nd best), rebounds with 12.5rpg (3rd best) and assists with 2.5apg (7th best).
