Best players of Liga SudAmericana round 1 (by Hoops Agents)

American Dennis McKinney (194-G/F-1998) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's leader Jorge Guzman CD and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 27-year old swingman had the game-high 22 points adding eight rebounds and four assists for J.Guzman in his team's victory, helping them to beat Bauru (#4, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 69-60. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed J.Guzman to consolidate first place in the Liga SudAmericana. But it's just the very beginning of the season and J.Guzman won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game McKinney had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He turned to be J.Guzman's top player in his first season with the team. Mount Mercy University graduate has very impressive stats this year. McKinney is in league's top in points (2nd best: 22.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 8.0rpg) and averages solid 57.1% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Danjel Purifoy (201-F-1995, agency: Helping Ballers) of second-ranked Olimpia Kings. Purifoy impressed basketball fans with 28 points and 4 rebounds. It was enough for Olimpia K. to edge Obera (1-1) by 6 points 84-78. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Purifoy is a newcomer at Olimpia K. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.0ppg (#1).

The third best performed player last round was Andrezao Barbosa de Abreu (213-C-2002) of Zopone/ Gali/ Unimed/Bauru Basket (#4). Barbosa de Abreu scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). Despite Barbosa de Abreu's great performance the Paschoalotto/Bauru lost 60-69 to #1 ranked J.Guzman. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The season just started for Barbosa de Abreu as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
