Caue's double-double lands him (Second Stage) Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

27-year old power forward Lucas Caue (206-PF-1998) had a very impressive game in the last round for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5 (Second Stage).
He had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat San Jose (#16, 0-2), Second Stage bottom-ranked team 85-80. Each game in Second Stage is important. but the teams lost the distance to top of the standings. Thanks to this victory Corinthians moved-up to the 15th position in Liga SudAmericana. Corinthians is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 1st lost game this season out of 2 games. In the team's last game Caue had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Corinthians and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Lucas Caue averages this season 5.2ppg and 5.4rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Luis Santos (203-C-1994) of Regatas Corrientes. He is Dominican Rep. center in his first season at Regatas. In the last game Santos recorded an impressive 12 points and 9 rebounds. Of course he led Regatas to another comfortable win 72-56 over slightly lower-ranked Defensor (#14, 1-1) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Regatas dropped in the standings to 13th position. His team has extremely good start of the Second Stage. They won both games so far. However the Second Stage is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Santos is a newcomer at Regatas and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to another Corinthians' star - guard Davaunta Thomas (196-G-1995). Thomas scored 20 points and passed 6 assists. He was another key player of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, helping his team with a 85-80 win against San Jose (#16, 0-2). Corinthians needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Thomas has a great season in Liga SudAmericana. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.8ppg (best scorer). Thomas attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
