Liga Sudamericana de Baloncesto (1996)

The South American League started in 1996. It is much more competitive that the South American Club Championships. The teams are divided in to four groups, facing all against all to two legs, classifying the two first of each group to the play-offs. The teams are mostly champions in their countries, but the strongest countries (like Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Uruguay) can have more than one team.
