Uruguayan Penarol recorded a loss on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Colombian Storm 86-82. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Storm made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Penarol helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Panamanian Josimar Ayarza (205-1987, college: Southern Miss) fired 30 points for the winners. Dominican Victor Liz (190-1986, agency: BMS Sport Agency) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Italian-Uruguayan guard Jayson Granger (191-1989) produced 24 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for lost side. Penarol's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Carrib.Storm is looking forward to face San Jose in Asuncion in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Penarol will have a break next round.
Another exciting game was played in Comodoro Rivadavia between Instituto and Gimnasia where Instituto beat Gimnasia on the road 81-68. Worth to mention a great performance of Uruguayan-Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) who helped to win the game recording 17 points. Leandro Vildoza contributed with 14 points, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) answered with 10 points and 7 assists for Gimnasia. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Instituto will play against Titanes in Barranquilla in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gimnasia will have a break next round.





Gimnasia - Instituto 68-81

Another exciting game was played in Comodoro Rivadavia between Instituto and Gimnasia where Instituto beat Gimnasia on the road 81-68. Gimnasia was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 44-27 second half run of Instituto. They also forced 19 Gimnasia turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Uruguayan-Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) who helped to win the game recording 17 points. Point guard Leandro Vildoza (180-1994) contributed with 14 points, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) answered with 10 points and 7 assists and American-Italian Brandon Nazione (202-1994, college: EMU) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gimnasia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
