Chilean-Spanish Center Manny Suarez (208-C-1993) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Nacional De Futbol Montevideo, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 31-year old player was the main contributor (24 points, five rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Ancud (#2, 1-1) with 17-point margin 90-73. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Nacional to take over top position in the Liga SudAmericana. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Nacional won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Suarez had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be Nacional's top player in his first season with the team. Former Creighton University star has very solid stats this year. Suarez is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.5ppg) and averages impressive 2.5spg and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Derrick Woods (203-F-1996, agency: SLN) of league's second-best Asociacion Basquetbol Ancud. Woods had a very good evening with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Bad luck as Ancud lost that game 73-90 to Nacional (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Woods is a newcomer at Ancud, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#6). He also registered 6.5 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Delano Spencer (193-G-1994) of CD Espanol Osorno (#3). Spencer scored 24 points. He was a key player of Espanol, leading his team to a 98-73 easy win against Santa Maria (#5, 0-1). Espanol needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Spencer has a great season in Liga SudAmericana. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (4th best).
