Liga SudAmericana round 7 best performance: Chris Clarke (by Hoops Agents)

American Forward Chris Clarke (196-F-1996, agency: Interperformances) put on an amazing game in the last round for Obras Basket Buenos Aires, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 28-year old player tried to help (27 points, eight rebounds and six assists) his team in a lost game to Olimpico (#2, 2-0) 106-107. Obras moved-up to the 5th position in Liga SudAmericana. They are still not able to win a single game in the league yet. Too late to improve their position as they are currently ranked such low. They already lost 2 games and recorded no victories. In the team's last game Clarke had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Obras' top player in his first season with the team. Former Texas Tech University star has very solid stats this year. Clarke is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.0ppg), rebounds (6th best: 8.0rpg), assists (8th best: 4.5apg) and averages impressive 54.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was American James Montgomery (203-F) of league's leader Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo. Montgomery had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. It was enough for Defensor to edge San Jose (#4, 0-1) 73-69. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Defensor consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Montgomery is a newcomer at Defensor, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.0ppg (#4). He also registered 7.5 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-G-1989) of Deportivo San Jose Asuncion (#4). Belardo showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Belardo's great performance the San Jose lost 69-73 to #1 ranked Defensor. The season just started for Belardo as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader. Belardo attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
