Brazilian Joao Franca (215-C-1998) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's leader Ciclista Olimpico de La Banda and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 26-year old center had the game-high 27 points adding nine rebounds for Olimpico in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team San Jose (#5, 0-2) with 26-point margin 109-83. It allowed Olimpico to jump to the first place in the Liga SudAmericana. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Olimpico already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. Franca turned to be Olimpico's top player in his first season with the team. Franca has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.3ppg), rebounds (6th best: 8.3rpg) and averages solid 75.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Olimpico's star - young Italian power forward Leonardo Mainoldi (205-PF-1985). Mainoldi impressed basketball fans with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course together with Franca he helped Ciclista Olimpico de La Banda with another comfortable win outscoring San Jose (#5, 0-2) 109-83. This victory allowed Olimpico to move up to 1st position in the standings. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 3 games without any defeat. Mainoldi is a newcomer at Olimpico and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Colombian Michael Jackson (192-F-1987) of Deportivo San Jose Asuncion (#5). Jackson scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Jackson's great performance the San Jose lost 83-109 to the league's current leader Olimpico (#1, 3-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. San Jose can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Jackson has individually a great season in Liga SudAmericana. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.5rpg (5th best).
