Pena's double-double lands him Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

30-year old Colombian shooting guard Alvaro Pena (197-SG-1995, agency: Starting 5) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Club Universitario de Sucre and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
He had a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Vasco da Gama (#4, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 79-73. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Univ.Sucre maintains the 2nd position in Liga SudAmericana . They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Univ.Sucre won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Pena turned to be Univ.Sucre's top player in his first season with the team. Pena has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 17.0ppg) and averages solid 2.5spg.

Second best performed player last round was Leonel Bettiga (208-C) of top-ranked Ferrocarril Oeste Buenos Aires. He is Paraguayan center in his 2nd season at Ferro. In the last game Bettiga recorded an impressive 15 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course he led Ferro to another comfortable win outscoring Motilones (#3, 0-2) 92-41. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Ferro consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Bettiga is well-known at Ferro and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to another Ferro's star - center Eduardo Vasirani (206-C-1991). Vasirani scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Ferrocarril Oeste Buenos Aires, helping his team with a 92-41 easy win against #3 ranked Motilones. Ferro has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Vasirani also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Vasirani has a great season in Liga SudAmericana. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.0rpg (3rd best).
