Liga SudAmericana round 9 best performance: Elyjah Clark (by Hoops Agents)

American Guard Elyjah Clark (191-G-1998) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (35 points, seven rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Quimsa (2-1) in overtime 100-96. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Corinthians is placed at 2nd position in Liga SudAmericana. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Corinthians will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Clark had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He has many years of experience at Corinthians, through which he has constantly improved. Former Missouri Southern State University star has very solid stats this year. Clark is in league's top in points (2nd best: 23.0ppg), assists (8th best: 4.7apg) and averages impressive 3.7spg and 41.7% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young Sebastian Orresta (188-PG-1993) of Quimsa Santiago del Estero. Orresta had a very good evening with a double-double of 17 points and 10 assists. Bad luck as Quimsa was edged in overtime by slightly higher-ranked Corinthians (2-1) 100-96. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Quimsa still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 2-1 record is not bad at all. Orresta is a newcomer at Quimsa and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Quimsa's star - American guard Brandon Robinson (196-SG-1989). Robinson scored 24 points. Despite Robinson's great performance the Quimsa Santiago del Estero lost 96-100 in overtime to #2 ranked Corinthians. But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Quimsa needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Robinson has a great season in Liga SudAmericana. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.7ppg (3rd best).
