Diablos Rojos claim LNBP title-Dec 6, 2024
Halcones Xalapa - Diablos 76-82

Diablos Rojos conquered the 2024 LNBP title. They beat Halcones Xalapa in the fifth game of the championship series to capture the trophy. Santiago Scala (186-G-1991) posted 17 points to pace the champions.
Diablos used a 29-point second quarter to take a 45-32 halftime lead. Halcones responded with a 28-12 rally in the third term to regain the advantage. But Diablos sank 25 points in the fourth frame to race to the victory. Michael Carrera (196-F-1993, college: S.Carolina, agency: BIG) netted 14 points for Diablos. Jordan Glynn (200-F-1989, college: SF Austin) answered with 17 points, while Clevin Hannah (179-G-1987, college: Wichita St.) tossed in 14 points in the losing effort.

The standout Panamanian center Joshua Ibarra earned the Finals MVP of the championship-winning Diablos Rojos del Mexico. He graduated from the Houston Christian five years ago. Ibarra received multiple other awards, picked up the Player of the Year, Center of the Year, Domestic Player of the Year and earned a spot in the First Team. His excellent performance assisted his team in beating Halcones UV Xalapa 4 to 1 in the final series. Ibarra was previously named to Honorable Mention back in 2022, Center of the Year and voted to the First Team last year. He was the Player of the Week honoree in the league. Ibarra conducted his way to the fifth position in averaging a commendable over 8 rebounds per game. He also averaged almost 14 points per game in the league. Ibarra has totalled 5 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 11 games on the year. His 28 points against the Astros were the most he scored in the 2024 season.
Deshawndre Washington, American guard from the Halcones Rojos de Veracruz, was named the Guard of the Year at the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional. He is the NM State alumni from 2023. Washington collected multiple other honors, was voted the Import Player of the Year and was selected to the First Team. He registered over 6 rebounds per game that season in the league. Washington received Player of the Week award 6 times during the 24 campaign. He led the LNBP in points per game with over 23. Washington has totalled 15 games of 20 or more points on the year and had 30 or more points in 4 games. His 40 points against the Astros were the most he scored in the 2024 season. As evident, the league is predominantly led by former college players, with 9 out of the 10 scorers having graduated from US schools.
Kenneth Faried, 35-year old American forward from the Reggio Emilia, was selected as the Forward of the Year of Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional. He is ex Morehead State from 2011. Faried was also chosen to the First Team. With finesse and precision, Faried claimed the third position in rebounds per game, delivering a stellar almost 9 rebounds per game average. He also recorded almost 11 points per game over the season in the league. Faried logged double-doubles in 7 games at the event. His 18 points against Halcones Rojos de Veracruz were the most he scored in the 2024 season. He won NBA Southwest Division championship title in 2019.
Jalen Adaway, 26-year old American guard from the Fuerza Regia Monterrey, was named to the First Team at the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional. He is alumni of the St. Bonaventure University from 2022. Adaway averaged over 12 points and 6 rebounds per game in the league. He has totalled 4 games of 20 or more points and registered double-doubles in 4 games on the year. Adaway's 29 points against Diablos were the most he scored in the 2024 season.
Rigoberto Mendoza, 32-year old Dominican shooting guard from the Astros de Jalisco, earned a spot in the First Team of Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional. He was previously honored as the Player of the Year, Guard of the Year, Import Player of the Year back in 2019 and voted to the First Team back in 2019 and 2022. Mendoza notched almost 13 points and 5 rebounds per game that season in the league. His 27 points against the Soles were the most he scored in the 2024 season. Among many awards he was selected to the Latinbasket All-Mexican LNBP Player of the Year as well as the All-Mexican LNBP Import Player of the Year and the All-Liga Americas First Team back in 2019. He was also selected to the Latinbasket Mexican LNBP All-Imports Team between 2019 and 2022.
