LNBP Round 10: Soles lose to Astros

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LNBP. The round was exceptionally exciting as four games ended with a tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Top ranked Soles (10-6) recorded its sixth loss in Guadalajara on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Astros (9-7) 86-77. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Soles. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Astros forced 21 Soles turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Naturalized American guard Karim Rodriguez (196-88) fired 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. International forward Jonatan Machado (200-93) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. American Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Inception Sports) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Soles' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Astros moved-up to second place, which they share with Libertadores. Soles at the other side still keep top position with six games lost. Astros is looking forward to face league's leader Fuerza Regia in Monterrey in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Soles will play at home against Abejas and are hoping to win this game.

It was a key game for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Luke Martinez (190-90, college: Wyoming) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Jordan Swing contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. Soles' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Avry Holmes (185-94, college: Clemson) replied with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for Astros. Soles have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-6 record. Astros at the other side dropped to the second place with seven games lost. They share the position with Libertadores. Soles will play against Abejas (#4) in Guanajuato in the next round. Astros will play at home against the league's leader Fuerza Regia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game was played in Guanajuato where Libertadores (#2) beat host Abejas (#3) 96-86 on Tuesday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was dominated by American players. Trahson Burrell had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. At the losing side Michael Smith responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds. Libertadores maintains second position with 9-7 record behind leader Soles, which they share with Astros. Abejas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. Libertadores will meet at home Panteras (#5) in the next round. Abejas will play against the league's leader Soles in Mexicali and hope to secure a win.

Rest of the games of round 10 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Halc.Xalapa were crushed by Fuerza Regia in Monterrey 95-74. Panteras beat Lenadores at home 90-83. Plateros lost to Dorados on the opponent's court 95-99. Fuerza Regia managed to outperform Halc.Xalapa in a home game 99-96. Libertadores managed to beat Abejas on the road 81-79. Panteras were defeated by Lenadores on its own court 87-88. Plateros were beaten by Dorados in Chihuahua 86-85.
The best stats of 10th round was 26 points and 6 rebounds by Aaron Valdes of Plateros.



Fuerza Regia - Halc.Xalapa 95-74

There was no surprise in Monterrey where 5th ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (4-10) was crushed by first ranked Fuerza Regia (10-5) 95-74 on Monday. Fuerza Regia forced 22 Halcones UV Xalapa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Halcones UV Xalapa's players. American guard Rodney Green (197-88, college: La Salle) scored 18 points to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Gabriel Giron (192-88) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Omar Boone (196, college: Sul Ross St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and point guard James Alvarez (181-94) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fuerza Regia have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-5 record. Halcones UV Xalapa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with ten games lost. Fuerza Regia will meet Astros (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Halcones UV Xalapa will play against the league's second-placed Dorados and hope to secure a win.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Aguascalientes where fifth ranked Panteras (7-9) defeated 4th ranked Lenadores (6-9) 90-83 on Tuesday. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Argentinian point guard Jonatan Machuca (184-89) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Panamanian Ernesto Oglivie (203-89) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Panteras players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jerry Evans (203-90, college: Nevada) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Rather expected game in Chihuahua where 4th ranked Plateros (6-10) were defeated by second ranked Dorados (8-6) 99-95 on Tuesday. Dorados dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Plateros' 36. They outrebounded Plateros 36-25 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Dorados especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American power forward Charles Mitchell (203-93, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Slash Sports) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Cezar Guerrero (185-92, college: Fresno St.) chipped in 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Dorados' coach Gustavo Pacheco used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game.
