CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (9-1) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat ninth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (1-9) 100-89. Hermosillo made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Hermosillo outrebounded Culiacan 44-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Hermosillo looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 7 assists. Forward Derek Culver (208-1998, college: WVU) helped adding 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Rayos de Hermosillo's coach Walter McCarty used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Mascio McCadney (190-1998, college: MSU-Northern) responded with 22 points. Rayos de Hermosillo have a solid series of four victories in a row. There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 7: bottom-ranked Frayles lost to Guaymas on the opponent's court 92-95. Mazatlan unfortunately lost to Angeles in a home game 83-93. Bottom-ranked Frayles recorded a loss to Guaymas on the road 89-102.

Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Angeles made 8 blocks.
