LNBPF Round 8 (Regular Season): Fuerza Regia lose to Freseras

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most important game in the last round took place in Irapuato between second ranked Fuerza Regia (12-4) and sixth ranked Freseras (6-8) on Saturday night. Fuerza Regia was defeated by Freseras in a tough game on the road 76-82. American players dominated the game. Power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Sierra Moore (180-1994, college: Penn State) contributed with 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Delicia Washington (178-1997, college: Clemson) replied with 20 points for Fuerza Regia. Freseras moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Panteras. Fuerza Regia at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost.
An interesting game for Adelitas (12-2) which hosted in Chihuahua 4th ranked Rojas (7-7). First ranked Adelitas had an easy win 86-69. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Cameroonian guard Jessica Thomas (168-1994, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 4 assists and Danielle Adams who added 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. American swingman Naomi Davenport (180, college: WVU) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Adelitas have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-2 record. Rojas at the other side keep the fourth place with seven games lost.
An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of 5th ranked Panteras in a game in Potosi versus Santas (#8) 89-78. The winners were led by Hillary Martinez who scored that evening 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by Tinara Moore did not help to save the game for Panteras. Santas (5-9) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Correcaminos. Loser Panteras keep the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Freseras.

In the last two games of round 8 Halcones beat Correcaminos on the road 72-63. Freseras lost to Fuerza Regia on its own court 61-72.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 21 points and 6 rebounds by Mayra Gil of Freseras.

Correcaminos - Halcones 63-72

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Halcones (9-5) beat 7th ranked Correcaminos (5-9) in Ciudad Victoria 72-63 on Friday. Halcones made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Correcaminos turnovers. The winners were led by American-Hungarian guard Yvonne Turner (179-1987, college: Nebraska) who scored that evening 22 points and 7 rebounds and Croatian forward Andrijana Cvitkovic (190-1994, college: Dayton) supported her with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Halcones players scored in double figures. Even 18 points by American guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) did not help to save the game for Correcaminos. Her fellow American import guard Ciani Cryor (165-1997, college: Texas Southern) added 17 points and 5 steals for the hosts. Halcones maintains third position with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader Adelitas. Loser Correcaminos keep the seventh place with nine games lost. They share the position with Santas.

Very expected game when 6th ranked Freseras (6-8) lost to second ranked Fuerza Regia (12-4) in Irapuato 61-72 on Friday. Fuerza Regia dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Freseras' 26. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fuerza Regia made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American forward Mikayla Cowling (188-1996, college: California, agency: LBM Management) who scored that evening 18 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import center Khaalia Hillsman (195-1996, college: Texas A&M) supported her with 18 points. Even 20 points and 8 rebounds by Haitian swingman Jessica Fequiere (180-1993, college: Albany) did not help to save the game for Freseras. American power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) added 18 points for the hosts. Fuerza Regia maintains second position with 12-4 record having just two point less than leader Adelitas. Freseras lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Panteras.

An interesting game was also surprising road defeat of 5th ranked Panteras in a game in Potosi versus Santas (#8) 89-78. Strangely Panteras outrebounded Santas 52-37 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Santas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Salvadorean Hillary Martinez (172-1997) who scored that evening 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American swingman Jazmine Jones (183-1996, college: Louisville) supported her with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Even a double-double of 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Tinara Moore (189-1996, college: CMU) did not help to save the game for Panteras. Her fellow American import guard Taylor Wurtz (183-1990, college: Wisconsin) added 17 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Five Santas and four Panteras players scored in double figures. Santas (5-9) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Correcaminos. Loser Panteras keep the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Freseras.
