The most exciting game of round 14 in the LNBP took place in Chihuahua. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Santos (6-6) to sixth ranked Dorados (6-6) 85-82 in the game for the seventh place. Dorados made 21-of-21 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Charles Mitchell (203-1993, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import forward AJ John (202-1996, college: UC Davis, agency: MSG) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Dorados' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American-Puerto Rican point guard Tjader Fernandez (178-1994) produced 22 points for the guests. Despite that victory Dorados went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with defeated Santos. Dorados is again looking forward to face Santos (#7) in San Luis Potosi in the next round. Santos will play on the road against El Calor in Cancun and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Abejas can celebrate finally their first win this season after eight consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked El Calor (5-6) on the road game in Cancun 76-68. The game was dominated by American players. Power forward Torren Jones (206-1994, college: William Penn) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Will Yoakum contributed with 15 points for the winners. Swingman Cameron Mitchell (195-1992, college: IU Southeast) replied with 19 points for El Calor. El Calor's coach Juan Jose Pidal rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Abejas maintains sixteenth position with 1-8 record. El Calor at the other side keeps the ninth place with six games lost. They share the position with Plateros. Abejas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. El Calor will play at home against Santos (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Fuerza Regia delivered the tenth victory on Thursday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Panteras (7-5) 87-73 in Aguascalientes. Micah Speight had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Stedmon Lemon responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fuerza Regia (10-2) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Loser Panteras dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Panteras will play again against the league's leader Fuerza Regia (#1) and hope to secure a win.
In the last two games of round 14 Mineros defeated Lobos BUAP in Zacatecas 103-91. Soles were beaten by Diablos at home 73-77.
