LNBP Round 32 (Regular Season): Fuerza Regia is defeated by Abejas

The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 7 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Fuerza Regia (20-6) in Guanajuato on Friday night. Visitors were edged by fifteenth ranked Abejas (6-19) 90-88. Abejas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian-American point guard Nikolas Tomsick (183-1991, college: Fort Lewis) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 6 assists and American power forward Torren Jones (206-1994, college: William Penn) who added 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Abejas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Jalen Adaway (196-1998, college: St.Bonaventure) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Abejas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourteenth place. Defending champion Fuerza Regia still keeps top position with six games lost. Abejas are looking forward to face higher ranked Freseras (#13) in Irapuato in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round.
The game in Mexicali was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Panteras (17-9) played at the court of 8th ranked Soles (13-13). Panteras managed to secure a 7-point victory 81-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Soles. The winners were led by American point guard Jaron Martin (178-1995, college: UC Irvine) who scored that evening 23 points and 4 assists and Stedmon Lemon supported him with 24 points. Even a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds by American-Argentinian Erik Thomas (195-1995, college: New Orleans) did not help to save the game for Soles. Panteras maintains fifth position with 17-9 record. Soles at the other side keep the eighth place with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Third ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (18-7) crushed at home 15th ranked Lobos BUAP (6-20) by 18 points 85-67, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Halc.Xalapa moved-up to second place, which they share with Astros. Lobos BUAP lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. There were no shocking results in the other games in round 32: Halc.Rojos won against Santos on the opponent's court 92-81. Astros managed to outperform Freseras in a home game 94-89. Plateros managed to beat El Calor on the road 90-82.

Halc.Xalapa - Lobos BUAP 85-67

Third ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (18-7) crushed at home 15th ranked Lobos BUAP (6-20) by 18 points 85-67, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Halc.Xalapa dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Lobos BUAP's 34. Halc.Xalapa forced 20 Lobos BUAP turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Georgian guard Thad McFadden (188-1987, college: Fairmont St.) who scored 20 points and 4 assists. Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The other American import guard Colin Dougherty (193-1996, college: Hobart) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican point guard Tjader Fernandez (178-1994) produced 21 points and 5 assists and Puerto Rican Jesus Cruz (196-1998, college: Fairfield) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Very predictable result in Guadalajara where second ranked Astros (18-7) defeated 11th ranked Freseras (10-16) 94-89 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was forward Tre McCallum (201-1995, college: DePaul, agency: MSG) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Forward Jordan Loveridge (198-1993, college: Utah) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) produced 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jamari Wheeler (185-1997, college: Ohio St.) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Freseras' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Astros maintains second position with 18-7 record having just three points less than leader Fuerza Regia, which they share with Halc.Xalapa. Freseras lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with 16 games lost. Astros will again meet at home Freseras (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Freseras will play against Abejas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Argentinian point guard Facundo Vazquez (185-1998) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Archie Goodwin (196-1994, college: Kentucky) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Arinze Chidom (206-1997, college: UC Riverside) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
