The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Fuerza Regia (21-7) in Monterrey on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Diablos (19-9) 102-90. Diablos dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Fuerza Regia's 32. It was a great shooting night for Diablos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international center Joshua Ibarra (211-1995, college: HCU) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). American guard Avry Holmes (185-1994, college: Clemson) helped adding 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Jalen Adaway (196-1998, college: St.Bonaventure) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Diablos maintains fourth place with 19-9 record. Defending champion Fuerza Regia still keeps top position with seven games lost. They share it with Astros. Diablos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fuerza Regia will play on the road against Halc.Xalapa in Xalapa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Fresnillo was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Dorados (16-12) played at the court of seventh ranked Plateros (16-12). Plateros managed to secure a 4-point victory 96-92. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian point guard Facundo Vazquez (185-1998) who led the winners and scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Angel Matias accounted for 13 points and 10 rebounds. Plateros' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Lester Medford Jr (178-1993, college: Baylor) came up with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for Dorados in the defeat. Plateros moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Dorados. Plateros will play against Correcaminos (#15) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dorados will play at home against Panteras (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
13th ranked Mineros (10-18) were outscored at home by third ranked Halcones UV Xalapa (20-8) with the biggest margin this round 96-67 on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was Sek Henry who scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Halcones UV Xalapa's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brandon Nazione produced 15 points for the hosts. Halc.Xalapa maintains third place with 20-8 record behind leader Fuerza Regia. Mineros lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Halc.Xalapa will meet at home league's leader Fuerza Regia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mineros will play against Soles (#8) in Mexicali and hope to secure a win.
In the last two games of round 35 Santos lost to Astros on the opponent's court 64-74. Freseras unfortunately lost to Correcaminos in a home game 77-77.
