LMBPF Round 1 (Regular Season): Easy game for Toritas which smash Huskys by 31 points

The Regular Season in LMBPF just started. Host teams show no mercy winning all games. The round 1 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Toritas crushed at home Huskys by 31 points 70-39, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Toritas dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Huskys' 18. Toritas forced 31 Huskys turnovers. Guard Fernanda Fausto (172) stepped up and scored 20 points and 5 steals for the winners and Yesica Vallejo chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Raisa Valdes responded with 9 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toritas is looking forward to face Dragonas in Toluca in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Huskys will play at home against Univ. Modelo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1: winless Penguins lost to undefeated Dragonas on the opponent's court 49-60. Mieleras managed to outperform Libelulas in a home game 86-73. Winless Libelulas lost to undefeated Mieleras on the road 61-72. Toritas defeated Huskys on its own court 67-59. Winless Penguins lost to undefeated Dragonas in Toluca 58-62.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 19 points and 13 rebounds by Paola Velazquez of Dragonas.

Dragonas - Penguins 60-49

Very expected game in Toluca where Penguins were defeated by Dragonas 60-49 on Saturday. Dragonas held Penguins to an opponent 21.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 33.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Penguins 55-41 including 42 on the defensive glass. Power forward Zaira Aldama (178-1998) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Paola Velazquez chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Dragonas' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Daniela Campuzano responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Frida Figueroa scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Dragonas is looking forward to face Toritas in Celaya in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Penguins will have a break next round.

Very predictable result in Guanajuato where Mieleras defeated Libelulas 86-73 on Saturday. Mieleras made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Libelulas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international guard Mayra Gil (174-2003) stepped up and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and American guard Destiny Pitts (178-1999, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Mieleras players scored in double figures. At the losing side Gladiana Avila responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Adriana Chavez (170, college: St.Thomas, TX) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Libelulas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mieleras is looking forward to face Las Avispas in Chilpancingo in the next round. Libelulas will play on the road against Mineras in Zacatecas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Dragonas - Penguins 62-58

There was no surprise in Toluca where Penguins were defeated by Dragonas 62-58 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Dragonas dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Penguins' 24. They outrebounded Penguins 48-33 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Paola Velazquez stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and power forward Zaira Aldama (178-1998) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. Dragonas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Frida Figueroa responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Daniela Campuzano scored 16 points. Dragonas is looking forward to face Toritas in Celaya in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Penguins will have a break next round.
