Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Destiny Pitts (178-1999, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording 8 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized American guard Mia Castaneda (168-1998, college: Washburn) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Mieleras' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Diana Armas (185-1993) replied with 19 points and 8 rebounds for Mineras. Undefeated Mieleras (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Mineras at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Las Avispas and Penguins. Mineras will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Mieleras will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Mineras in Zacatecas.
Huskys' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Chilpancingo, where they defeated Las Avispas (0-3) 50-43. Worth to mention a great performance of Erika Mora who helped to win the game recording 10 points and 5 assists and Emily Herrejon who added 12 points during the contest. At the losing side Harumy Vazquez responded with 11 points. Las Avispas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Huskys (1-4) left bottom position moving up to sixth place. Even 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists by Frida Figueroa did not help to save the game for Penguins. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Univ. Modelo have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Univ. Modelo maintains third position with 3-0 record having 2 victories less than leader Mieleras.
