The most exciting game of round 10 in the CIBACOPA took place in Guaymas. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Angeles (8-4) to sixth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (6-6) 103-101 on Wednesday evening. Guaymas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Angeles helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Sherif Gross-Bullock (196-1999, college: Bryant) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Nigerian-American swingman Cameron Oluyitan (201-1997, college: SUU) contributed with 23 points for the winners. American forward Daytone Jennings (206-1997, college: CSUSB, agency: SLN) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds for Angeles. Angeles' coach Pascal Meurs rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ostioneros de Guaymas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tijuana. Angeles lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with four games lost. Guaymas is looking forward to face Culiacan (#6) on the road in the next round. Angeles will play against Tijuana (#5) and are hoping to win this game.

Guaymas will play against Culiacan (#6) on the road in the next round. Angeles will play against Tijuana (#5) and hope to get back on the winning track.

Daniel Hamilton notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort. Even 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by Taylor Johnson did not help to save the game for Los Mochis. Despite that victory Culiacan went down to sixth position due to points difference. Los Mochis at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. Culiacan will meet at home higher ranked Guaymas (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Los Mochis will play against the league's leader Astros in Guadalajara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 10 were not that significant. Astros smashed Hermosillo on the road 105-74. Tijuana won against Obregon on its own court 83-74. Astros managed to outperform Hermosillo in Guadalajara 86-76. Tijuana recorded a loss to Obregon at home 74-80. Culiacan was defeated by Los Mochis on the opponent's court 99-82. Culiacan was beaten by Tijuana in a home game 82-86.
The most impressive performance of 10th round was 24 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by Cameron Mitchell of Tijuana.



Hermosillo - Astros 74-105

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Astros (11-1) crushed on the road 8th ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (2-8) 105-74 on Tuesday. Astros dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rayos de Hermosillo's 34. Astros forced 23 Hermosillo turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Hermosillo's players. American players dominated the game. Point guard Armani Chaney (178-1997, college: Tennessee St.) notched a double-double by scoring 10 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and guard Malachi Richardson (197-1996, college: Syracuse) supported him with 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Chaney is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Astros players scored in double figures. Astros' coach Ivan Deniz felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 15 points by forward Cameron Christon (198-1999, college: GSU) did not help to save the game for Hermosillo. Forward James Montgomery (203-2001, college: Barry) added 11 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Astros maintains first position with 11-1 record. Defending champion Hermosillo dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Mazatlan. Astros will meet at home Los Mochis (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hermosillo will play against Mazatlan (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
