LBE Round 2 (Regular Season): Dorados edge Soles by two points

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LBE. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 2 in the LBE took place in Ojinaga. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of Soles to Dorados 103-101 on Saturday evening. Dorados made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Soles turnovers. Dorados looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jaron Martin (178-1995, college: UC Irvine) who scored 14 points and 9 assists. The other American import power forward Raphiael Putney (207-1990, college: UMass) chipped in 17 points. American guard Gary Ricks-Mondragon (185-1991, college: Drake) produced 22 points and 8 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Dorados are looking forward to face Indios in Ciudad Juarez in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Soles will play at home against Mineros and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.

American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Jose Martinez contributed with 13 points for the winners. Dominican forward Miguel Simon (203-1994, college: ASA CC) replied with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Soles. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Apaches will play against Mineros in Parral in the next round. Soles will play at home against Mineros and hope to get back on the winning track.
An exciting game was played in Chihuahua. Apaches faced Ciudad. Host Apaches defeated guests from Ciudad Juarez 102-94. Jimond Ivey scored 21 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Nikita Konstantynovskyi responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Apaches will meet Mineros in the next round. Ciudad will play against Faraones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Indios crushed Mineros in Ciudad Juarez 117-88. Dorados smashed Faraones at home 152-103. Winless Mineros were destroyed by Faraones on the opponent's court 115-94.




Soles - Apaches 78-94

An exciting game was played in Ojinaga. Apaches faced Soles. Guests from Chihuahua defeated host Soles 94-78. Apaches had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Soles' players. American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. point guard Jose Martinez (184) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Dominican forward Miguel Simon (203-1994, college: ASA CC) replied with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Puerto Rican point guard Douglas Mills (188-1990, agency: Interperformances) added 18 points in the effort for Soles. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Apaches will play against Mineros in Parral in the next round. Soles will play at home against Mineros and hope to get back on the winning track.

Mineros - Indios 88-117

There was no surprise in Parral where Mineros were crushed by Ciudad 117-88 on Friday. Indios outrebounded Mineros 55-36 including a 46-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized American point guard Eric Garcia-Thompson (183-1994, college: Wofford) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Alejandro Villanueva-Lopez (199-1993) chipped in 23 points during the contest. American forward Donovan Gregory (196-2001, college: App State) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Francisco Rodriguez scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Five Indios and four Mineros players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ciudad will meet at home Faraones in the next round. Mineros will play against Soles in Ojinaga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game in Chihuahua where Dorados smashed Faraones 152-103 on Friday. Dorados made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Faraones turnovers. Dorados looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Faraones' players. American power forward Charles Mitchell (203-1993, college: Georgia Tech) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-Filipino guard Mikh McKinney (184-1992, college: Sacramento St.) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. American Xavier White (203, college: Midland CC) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and center Felipe Hernandez-Lopez (206-1997) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Five Dorados and four Faraones players scored in double figures. An exciting game was played in Chihuahua. Apaches faced Ciudad. Host Apaches defeated guests from Ciudad Juarez 102-94. Apaches looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. American guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) scored 21 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) chipped in 16 points during the contest. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Apaches players scored in double figures. Ukrainian forward Nikita Konstantynovskyi (208, college: Notre Dame) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and American guard Joe French (196-2000, college: UAPB) scored 30 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Apaches will meet Mineros in the next round. Ciudad will play against Faraones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Four Faraones players scored in double figures. American point guard Jeffery Stubbs (189-1991, college: Jackson St.) responded with 25 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import forward Donovan Gregory (196-2001, college: App State) scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Faraones will meet Indios in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mineros will play against Soles in Ojinaga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
