LBE Round 3 (Regular Season): Dorados beat Apaches by one after a very close game

LBE is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 3 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 3 in the LBE took place in Chihuahua. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of Apaches (4-2) to Dorados (6-0) 84-83 in the game for the first place. Dorados made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American point guard Jaron Martin (178-1995, college: UC Irvine) who saved his team from a defeat with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). His fellow American import power forward Charles Mitchell (203-1993, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Guard Raul Delgado (190-1991, college: MSU Denver) answered with 22 points for Apaches. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Dorados are looking forward to face Faraones (#5) in the next round. Apaches will play against Soles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Dorados (6-0) which played road game in Ciudad Juarez against Ciudad (3-2). Dorados had an easy win 111-96. It was a great evening for American power forward Raphiael Putney (207-1990, college: UMass) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 5 rebounds. Mikh McKinney helped adding 17 points, 6 assists and 4 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international Alejandro Villanueva-Lopez (199-1993) with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dorados will play against Faraones (#5) in the next round. Ciudad will play against Mineros and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Parral was also quite interesting. Apaches (4-2) played at the court of Mineros (1-5). Apaches defeated Mineros 108-97 on Friday. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for Jimond Ivey who led the winners and scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Hal Heyward came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for Mineros in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Apaches will meet at home Soles (#4) in the next round. Mineros will play against Indios in Ciudad Juarez and hope to win that game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: Soles beat Faraones on the road 118-108. Indios won against Faraones on its own court 115-99. Bottom-ranked Mineros managed to outperform Soles in Parral 102-98.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 22 points and 8 rebounds by Ajang Aguek of Mineros.



Dorados - Apaches 84-83

The most exciting game of round 3 in the LBE took place in Chihuahua. It was an exceptional evening for guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Daniel Bejarano (193-1991, college: Colorado St.) accounted for 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Five Apaches players scored in double figures. Forward Hal Heyward (200-1992, college: Columbus St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Ajang Aguek (201-2000, college: Lander) added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Mineros in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Apaches will meet at home Soles (#4) in the next round. Mineros will play against Indios in Ciudad Juarez and hope to win that game.

An interesting game for Dorados (6-0) which played road game in Ciudad Juarez against Ciudad (3-2). Dorados had an easy win 111-96. Dorados players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Raphiael Putney (207-1990, college: UMass) who led his team to a victory scoring 31 points and 5 rebounds. American-Filipino guard Mikh McKinney (184-1992, college: Sacramento St.) helped adding 17 points, 6 assists and 4 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international Alejandro Villanueva-Lopez (199-1993) with 29 points and 5 rebounds and Ukrainian forward Nikita Konstantynovskyi (208, college: Notre Dame) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dorados will play against Faraones (#5) in the next round. Faraones - Soles 108-118

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Soles' (2-3) road victory over Faraones (1-5) 118-108 on Friday. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Dominican forward Miguel Simon (203-1994, college: ASA CC) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Puerto Rican point guard Douglas Mills (188-1990, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 28 points and 4 assists for the winning side. American Xavier White (203, college: Midland CC) came up with 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and forward Tyrone Jones (193) added 30 points respectively for Faraones in the defeat. Five Soles and four Faraones players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Soles will meet Apaches in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Faraones will play against Dorados and hope to win that game.

Rather expected game when Faraones (1-5) lost to Ciudad (3-2) in Ciudad Juarez 99-115 on Saturday. Indios had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international Alejandro Villanueva-Lopez (199-1993) who led the winners and scored 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. point guard Carlos Rodriguez (183-1992) accounted for 19 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side. American Xavier White (203, college: Midland CC) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and forward Tyrone Jones (193) added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Faraones in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ciudad will meet at home Mineros (#6) in the next round. There was a small surprise when Mineros (1-5) won against Soles (2-3) in Ojinaga 102-98 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Hal Heyward (200-1992, college: Columbus St.) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. His fellow American import swingman Ajang Aguek (201-2000, college: Lander) accounted for 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Mineros' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Gary Ricks-Mondragon (185-1991, college: Drake) came up with 21 points and 7 assists and Panamanian Daniel Giron-Villarreal (192-1989) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Soles in the defeat. Four Mineros and five Soles players scored in double figures. Mineros will meet Indios (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Soles will play against Apaches in Chihuahua and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
