Newly promoted Bordo Sportif Balikesir (BSL) strengthened their roster with the addition of 32-year-old Mexican-American ex-international 191cm point guard Alexander Perez-Kaufmann for the 2026-27 season. He has played for the last two years at Tofas in the BSL. In 30 games, he recorded 12.6ppg, 2.6rpg, 6.4apg (top 5), and 1.2spg last season. TBL will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. He also played 15 games in the Basketball Champions League where he averaged 11.3ppg, 2.8rpg, 5.9apg, and 1.0spg. Good season as he was voted League Player of the Week.
Perez-Kaufmann represented Mexico at the FIBA World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers three years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 15.5 points per game and had 4.8 rebounds per game.
He is a very experienced player. Perez-Kaufmann has played also in Argentina (San Lorenzo), Israel (Maccabi Haifa), Latvia (VEF Riga), Lithuania (Zalgiris), Mexico (Soles), Venezuela (Bucaneros) and Turkey (Turk Telekom, Fenerbahce, Bandirma, Buyukcekmece and Konyaspor).
He played in the final of the Turkish League in 2021 and was selected to Eurobasket.com FIBA Europe Cup Honorable Mention in 2025.
