LSB Round 15: Cacique D. defeats Leones MGA in the closest game of the week- September 13, 2021

Brumas - Tigres 92-73 Bottom-ranked Tigres (0-9) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their ninth consecutive match to second ranked Brumas (7-2) 92-73. Brumas dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 44. They outrebounded Tigres 54-29 including a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Brumas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American center Leon Hampton (213-95, college: Stillman, agency: Epic Sports Consulting LLC) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Justin Miller (198-96, college: Detroit) accounted for 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Hampton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Brumas players scored in double figures. American Quincy Scates (198-89, college: TWU) came up with 28 points and 5 rebounds and Jose Ortiz added 22 points respectively for Tigres in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Brumas. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cacique D. Tigres lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th placed Leones MGA (5-3) to first ranked Cacique D. (7-2) 78-77 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leones MGA. It was a great evening for forward Jeremy Agosto who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican forward Xavier de la Rosa (196-91) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Chris Blake (195-88, college: Detroit) with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and naturalized American forward Peter Martinez (183-96, college: William Pater.) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Leones MGA players scored in double figures. Cacique D. have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-2 record, which they share with Brumas. Leones MGA at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. It was a great shooting night for Indigenas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican point guard Christian Lopez (183-95) who scored 26 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. American center James Edmond Jr (203-91, college: Lincoln, MO) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Indigenas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Cuban Oreste Torres (204-87) who recorded 31 points and 8 rebounds and Dominican center Miguel Almonte (211-91) added 16 points and 17 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Indigenas maintains eighth place with 2-7 record. Loser Leon keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Rivas. Third ranked Real Esteli (7-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Rivas (4-5). Real Esteli managed to secure a 4-point victory 93-89 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Jason Valdez who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Cuban Lisvan Valdez (196-88) chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American center BJ Glasford (196-95, college: Stetson, agency: Green Sports Management) who recorded 31 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and the other American import Quentin Davis (199, college: Mendocino CC) added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Four Rivas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Real Esteli. They maintain third place with 7-3 record having just one point less than leader Cacique D. Loser Rivas dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Leon.
