LSB Round 22: Brumas are defeated by Ingenieria

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Brumas (11-4) on the court of fourth ranked Ingenieria on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Ingenieria 75-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Brumas. Puerto Rican guard Jorge Sanabria (191-93) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Ronald Lawton chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American Timothy Simmons (195-92, college: DBU) responded with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Brumas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ingenieria maintains fourth position with 9-6 record. Brumas at the other side still keep top place with four games lost. They share the position with Real Esteli.
Seventh-ranked Leon (7-8) gave a tough game to second ranked Real Esteli (11-4). Real Esteli managed to secure only two-point victory 66-64. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leon. The former international power forward Jensen Campbell (198-98) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and Lisvan Valdez supported him with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Real Esteli's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 27 points and 9 rebounds by Cuban Oreste Torres (204-87) did not help to save the game for Leon. Real Esteli used an opportunity after Brumas lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Leon at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost.
Bottom-ranked Tigres managed to get a second victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Sunday night. This time they won against eighth-ranked Indigenas in Chinandega 82-77. Quincy Scates fired 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Teodoro Romero produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds for lost side. Tigres maintains ninth position with 2-14 record. Indigenas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 12 games lost.

In the last two games of round 22 Rivas lost to Leones MGA on the opponent's court 67-83. Bottom-ranked Tigres unfortunately lost to Real Esteli in a home game 88-96.



Leones MGA - Rivas 83-67

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Managua where 5th ranked Rivas (8-8) were defeated by sixth ranked Leones MGA (8-6) 83-67 on Saturday. American forward Chris Blake (195-88, college: Detroit) fired 32 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian power forward Gianfranco Sinconi (204-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. American center BJ Glasford (196-95, college: Stetson, agency: Green Sports Management) produced 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import power forward Darryl Palmer (203-94, college: SC State) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leones MGA moved-up to fifth place. Loser Rivas dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost.

Very predictable result in Chinandega where second ranked Real Esteli (11-4) defeated bottom-ranked Tigres (2-14) 96-88 on Saturday. Real Esteli forced 21 Tigres turnovers. Dominican point guard Jaison Valdez (188-95) fired 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Cuban Lisvan Valdez (196-88) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Real Esteli's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jose Ortiz produced 32 points and American Quincy Scates (198-89, college: TWU) added 29 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Real Esteli used an opportunity after Brumas lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Tigres stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost.

Tigres looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American Quincy Scates (198-89, college: TWU) fired 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Mauro Guerrero chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. Dominican center Teodoro Romero produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds and American center James Edmond Jr (203-91, college: Lincoln, MO) added 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Tigres maintains ninth position with 2-14 record. Indigenas lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 12 games lost.
