LSB Round 27: Brumas beat Real Esteli by two after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 27 in the LSB took place in Jinotega. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Real Esteli (12-8) to first ranked Brumas (13-4) 86-84 on Tuesday evening. Brumas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for American power forward Martell Miller (198-96, college: Detroit) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import center Leon Hampton (213-95, college: Stillman, agency: Epic Sports Consulting LLC) contributed with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Brumas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American-Puerto Rican Melsahn Basabe (201-92, college: Iowa) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for Real Esteli. Brumas maintains first place with 13-4 record. Real Esteli lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with eight games lost. Brumas are looking forward to face Leon (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Real Esteli will play against Rivas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Indigenas managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of eight consecutive losses. This time they won against eighth-ranked Tigres in Matagalpa 83-76. It was a great evening for American center James Edmond Jr (203-91, college: Lincoln, MO) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Marco Maradiaga helped adding 23 points. Indigenas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Jose Ortiz with 32 points and 4 assists. Indigenas (3-15) moved-up to eighth place. Tigres at the other side dropped to the bottom position with 17 games lost. Indigenas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tigres will play against the league's second-placed Cacique D. (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

It was a quality performance for Quentin Davis who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Ronald Lawton came up with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for Ingenieria in the defeat. Rivas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Ingenieria. Rivas will meet higher ranked Real Esteli (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ingenieria will have a break next round.

Ingenieria - Rivas 86-92

The game between 4th placed Ingenieria (11-9) and sixth ranked Rivas (11-9) in on Tuesday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from beat Ingenieria 92-86. It was a quality performance for American Quentin Davis (199, college: Mendocino CC) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import center BJ Glasford (196-95, college: Stetson, agency: Green Sports Management) accounted for 16 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winning side. Forward Ronald Lawton came up with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international center Rudy Taylor (198-83) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Ingenieria in the defeat. Five Rivas and four Ingenieria players scored in double figures. Rivas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Ingenieria.
